The book of Isaiah
was written around 700 B.C. The oldest known surviving document of Isaiah
is contained in the
Dead Sea Scrolls. There are numerous prophecies given in Isaiah and
many have already been fulfilled. The table below lists some of the
prophecies relating to the Messiah that were fulfilled hundreds of years
after they were given. The prophecies from Isaiah are shown on the left
with the historical reference where they were fulfilled on the right.

Mat 1:20-23 |
20 But while he thought on
these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a
dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee
Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy
Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a
son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his
people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet,

with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his
name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. |
| Isa. 9:7 |
Of the increase of his

Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their
hands. |
| Isa 53:12 |
Therefore will I divide him a
portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the

Mat 27:57-60 |
57 When the even was come,
there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself
was Jesus' disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and
begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be
delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken
the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new
tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone
to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. |
| Isa 53:4,5 |
4 Surely he hath borne our
griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken,

of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. |
Mat 8:16,17 |
16 When the even was come,
they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he
cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. |
